STEPHANIE SKAFF | WORDS UNTITLED
Words Untitled is an excerpt of a theatre work that employs parallel themes of industry and human isolation to explore identity and individual thought. Incorporating text, song and movement, this excerpt speaks of the fragility of a factory worker as she discovers that she is not mass produced. Written and performed by Stephanie Skaff. Photos by Tasja Keetman.
Stephanie is a performing artist and writer, and is an Artist-in-Residence at The Old American Can Factory. Her original work "Resting Potential" was performed at The Construction Company in 2003 and The Culture Project in Jul 2002. She is performing with lyricist/performer Todd Almond and composer Paul Hogan in an original musical "Faithful Photography" currently in development. She performs theatre with hospitalized children as a member of Only Make Believe; has performed with The Amalgamated Midwest Performance Corps, 322 Union Collective among others; has collaborated with noranewdanceco, Paul Hogan, Paula Matthusen, Franny Silverman and many terrific people; and has performed with other companies at various venues throughout NYC. Stephanie received her BFA in Dramatic Performance from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music in 2001 and received a 2003 Theatre Apprenticeship Award from The Princess Grace Foundation-USA for her work with Bond Street Theatre.

CHELSEA BACON | MOVES UNTITLED
The curiosities of the human mind and individual perception are probed through narratives - often studies of a single person's experiences - told through aerial movement using non-traditional equipment and sculptural costumes. This is a segment of What My Mother Did to Deserve This, which was last presented as a duet at the Theater de La Jeune Lune by Three Legged Race in Minneapolis in 2001. Developed now as a solo work, there is still a lot of grass and it is still about love. Written and performed by Chelsea Bacon.
Chelsea Bacon is a performing artist and writer, and is an Artist-in Residence at The Old American Can Factory. Her aerial-based theater work includes: “Breaker" (Dixon Place, 2001. Dir. Patricia Buckley with ensemble cast); "trickpony" (Southern Theater, Minneapolis, 2002, created with Sally Rousse); and "Sweet Nothings for my Neurosurgeon", which was workshopped at New York Theater Workshop’s Larson Lab (Dir. Maria Mileaf); the Kitchen’s Dance in Progress; and Mabou Mines' Resident Artist’s suite (Dir: Chelsea Bacon). Her shorter pieces include: "Dirt, Untitled 1-5" with stilt-dancer Nikki Byrd; "Night Girl Discovers the Moon" with Katie Baldwin (recently filmed at the Old American can Factory with the Belles of the Black Diamond Field); "Sleeping Beauty Lies" with Angela Jones; and "What My Mother Did to Deserve This" with Damon Matthews. "Sweet Nothings" will premier at the Flea Theater in June 2005.
