1.1 SUMMARY
The Old American Can Factory, an historic 130,000 sf, six-building industrial complex at the Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn, is an arts and manufacturing community where more than 200 people are producing a myriad of ideas, experiences and products within the design, arts and culture industry. Curated tenants include a wide range of designers, visual, performing & literary artists and companies as well as manufacturing businesses. For a complete list of people currently working here, please visit < PEOPLE >.
The complex, built between 1865-1901 with a medievalesque courtyard and alleyways, has a quiet, vibrant artistic energy heightened throughout the year by uncommon performances, exhibitions and events presented in and around the buildings. The Old American Can Factory was developed and is operated by XØ Projects Inc.
Workspaces are suitable for light industrial use within the creative industries (except woodworking) or as artist studios and/or offices. Live-work or live only is NOT available at this complex. Rental rates are determined based on studio features, location, use, occupancy and lease term.
